So, last week, I attempted to make this (vegan) bean dip but I made the fatal mistake of using the amount of garlic scapes called for by the recipe and the result was overpowering raw garlic taste. Much like eating an unroasted garlic clove. Bleh.
I decided that I could use it in a bread recipe, googled a bit and found this ranch style bread recipe and made it Monday. It's good! The garlic roasted, so it's a much milder flavor and the bread has extra protein from the beans. I'm using it for today's ham sandwich lunch... we'll see how it turns out.
I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to eat all of my lunch today... I put a handful of the mustard greens and a handful of the sorrel from yesterday's farm share pickup in a tupperware this morning. I had one of the mustard greens as I walked out the door... and let's just say my sinuses cleared out very quickly. Not sure if I'll be able to eat the rest. Is it weird that I didn't think that mustard greens would taste like concentrated mustard?
In other news, my plants are growing!!! The tomato seedling added a third shoot (though there are two dead shoots, but they weren't looking good when I got the seedling). Basil's growing and mystery seedling (either oregano or marjoram) is looking good too. Picked up a parsley at the farm share today. It's freaking me out that I may be able to keep plants alive and then use them to cook. I feel all growed up.

So, I returned the shoes to Payless and then went to my arch nemesis, H&M. I actually found a cute dress that might be too tight and might make me look like a tablecloth, but was $15, so I bought it. Now I think I need to make myself another boobholder in black to go with it. If I decide to keep it. Which I still am. Deciding, that is.
I've also managed to almost completely kill the gerbera daisies I got as a thank you for the benefit two weeks ago. I don't know why. My coworker's daisies are thriving. Mine are dead. People don't believe me when I say I kill plants. The last time they looked sad, I watered them and they were better in an hour or two. This time, I dumped a bunch of water in and now they look worse. Maybe they need a bigger pot? I'm taking them home to natural light tomorrow. Hang on, daisies!

I'm working next Saturday from 3-midnight. I think before that I'll do some grocery shopping and some gardening. My backyard is pitiful... small, barren, covered in weeds and I'm technically not allowed to plant anything in the soil. This actually isn't that much of a problem, because the soil is clay and not at all conducive to growing things. I think.
But my ex-roommate left her window boxes, so I'll grab some impatients and maybe some grass seed to get the ground to actually grow something. Last year I wanted to buy a shepherd hook to put some hanging plants or hang windchimes on, but I never got around to it. I think I'll do it this year. Who knows, I might even get some pots. That might be going too far. I'd have to start using the backyard on a regular basis for that kind of investment.
Still, it'd be nice to look out my window and see some green.
Also, none of my Saturday podcasts have updated. I wanted to listen to NPR while I cleaned. Guess that's out.

Target has a 20" TV for $100, apparently, I hallucinated a Best Buy 24" TV for $139.99 because now I can't find it.
Thinking about getting a shepherd hook and hanging plants to counteract that whole inability to plant anything. Hook costs $7-$15, hanging plants, $10-$20. Maybe later.
Also, just for
pinkhairedcyn, Hello Kitty TV.
Coupons this week were highly disappointing, too.

Went to Fredericks of Hollywood for bras, where the pushup bra has gone to die. Seriously, all of their bras are padded. I got two, one neutral, one pink. I may return the pink. Had them measure me because I thought I went down a band size. The lady measuring me proclaimed I was a 38D. Y'all, you may have never seen me in person, but I am many things. I am not a D cup. Probably never will be. 38Cs actually fit pretty well (thanks, NuvaRing!). When I pull out the pushup insert things, trust me, it does not fit well. But more boobs is always good, so we'll keep the neutral, at least.
Wandered into DSW, found a pair of sneakers for relatively cheap, which is good as mine are falling apart. May return them too, because I'm not sure if they fit right in the arch supports. Nothing ever fits my arches right. Ah well.
Wandered home (but not before having a food court pretzel! YAY!), planted my plants and realized my soil is clayish and filled with rocks. Hey, rocks! Went on a scavenger hunt throughout the yard and got some good rocks and created a rock border for my shade garden. Debated about where to plant my pentas, did some interweb research and decided to plant them where I wanted to plant them. I think they'll get enough sun.
Then I went off to
goingdriftless' house concert, stuffed my face with endless amounts of sugar and had a great time chatting and everything. Now I'm home. It's nearly 11 and I have to go to work tomorrow, but I'm not at all tired. Maybe I'll spin a little and then I might work on lucky or something. Anyway, that's the day.

Landlord wants grass only in backyard. Probably inadvertently pulled up the grass when weeding, though how one could tell there was grass there... let's just say that's a stretch.
Guess I'll return my $15 of plants back to Giant. Maybe not today though. It was quite the walk.
Off to go undisturb the soil.

This is Old Roommate's bike that takes up the majority of the space I have to garden. There's an area rug in the corner covering a pile of bricks. I'm not sure why that's there... maybe the base of a grill? I think I want to use that as a flower space and move the bricks to make a path to the gate. When we had a grill, we had it on the deck. If one of us caves and buys a hibatchi or something, that'll probably live on the deck, or we can move it back.
This is also after I spent 40 minutes pulling weeds and raking leaves. I can't actually move OR's bike because it is locked to the fence.
Anyway, any questions about the whining?
