I was thinking about making a circular afghan for the wedding afghan after finding a nice, simple but easily customizable pattern online. But then I thought giving a circular afghan to adults (and not a baby who gets it wrapped around them) might be weird. So, I put it to you, my adoring public.

So, it's my birfday on Saturday (don't say you weren't warned!) and I'm trying what to decide what, if anything, I should buy myself. Money is tight right now, but isn't your birthday supposed to be about splurging? I had the wonderful idea (OK, [info]stentoriansista had it and I'm running with it) of getting myself a shower massager, since my current showerhead is about 15 years old and crappy and has no pressure. Then, I was perusing old entries and found this one that reminded me that I could totally get some awesome books from my childhood. So, what should I do with myself?

Whatever it is, it'll prolly have to wait until July, but still... Mom wanted to know what I wanted for my birthday and I mentioned the swimming lessons I was thinking of taking (but not, due to time conflicts) and the personal trainer I was sort of thinking of getting (ungodly expensive, even at the YWCA). I'm not sure what I should ask her for - I don't have any large wants in my life right now. Aside from sanity and more money at work, of course. Maybe I'll ask her to get me a massage somewhere. That could be good.

I'm having a total helpless and indecisive moment and I can't decide. I'm flying to California for a wedding on Sunday and I can't decide whether to take the early morning flight home on Sunday or the red eye Sunday night. I have more of a chance at sanity taking the Sunday morning but more time with the peeps if I take the red eye. Thoughts?

First, here is my bread recipe. I sub bread flour for all purpose flour and in the batch rising right now had to use a cup of all purpose flour cuz I ran out.

Second, I have this pot roast roasting on the stove right now - not sure how it's going to turn out and the recipe never tells you where to put the sour cream, despite it being called 'Pot Roast with Sour Cream.' The general consensus on [info]cooking (here) is to whisk it into the gravy. We'll see...

Plus, have decided I am making onion pie and pecan pie for Thanksgiving.

I want to make pot roast at some point this weekend but can't decide what recipe I want to make. I'm trying to do something different than my usual two cans of coke, one package of onion soup mix. I'm thinking more stews, but found some good non-stew ones.

Knitting Opinion Needed!

  • Feb. 22nd, 2004 at 11:06 PM
what?
OK, I'm making this sweater based off of a pattern from winter vogue knits '03. Never mind that I've completely shifted from the tweedness and bulky weight boucleness of the yarn.

The pattern calls for 5.5" of k3p3 rib. Being that the yarn was previously a bulky yarn, you couldn't tell. At all. Being that now I'm using a worsted, you sure as hell will.

I've cropped the sweater to hit right at belt loop level on me, which is pretty much straight up and down until the boobs come into play. Being that I'm short waisted, this is also about 5" long.

So, I figure make the k3p3 rib for 5" and then gradually increase to bust size and knit for the rest of the needed length.

It'll give me the idea of an empire waist, but without the big flouncy fabric at the empire waist. Know what I mean?

But, will this make me look short? Is this a good idea at all?

Vote below.

As I'm sure you all know, Knitting Goddess #9 is in DESPERATE need of a non-angelfire home, and I want my own domain. None of that typepad crap for me.

BUT, I can't decide what I should be. I really wanted stitchwitch.net - but that's taken (but not used). Same with bestitched.net and knitwit.com - both taken. =( =( Hence the poll below with my remaining choices.
